Spa and diving at Grotta Giusti

The SPA Grotta Giusti is located just few kms away from the villa. The cave, accidentally discovered in 1849, offers a unique spectacle to its visitors… stalactites and stalagmites, tunnels, underground openings, and a pond of hot water that filled the space with steam. Officially the largest thermal cave in Europe, the cave have been much improved since then and still attract plenty of guests from all over the world with a wide range of beauty treatments. Inside the cave there are three distinct areas which have been named Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell, boasting temperatures ranging from 28° to 34°C and steam that naturally has healing and therapeutic properties. The grotto also offers a unique diving experience in the underground lake, suitable either from beginner and experienced divers with different diving packages available.

Hot air ballooning

Experience the magic of an aerial adventure where the destination is irrelevant! Hot air ballooning expeditions capture the imagination, as each flight is a unique and magical voyage. The flight starts at dawn, approx. 6:00 a.m., and the inflation takes about 30 minutes. Your voyage lasts about one hour. Afterwards, a rich continental breakfast awaits you upon landing. Once the trailer of the chase vehicle, which follows your flight from the launch site, is loaded, you will be accompanied back to the launch site. The ballooning season is approximately late spring to early autumn with annual variations.

Birdwatching and boat ride on the Padule di Fucecchio

Enjoy a full day of biking through the marshy area of “Padule di Fucecchio”, the widest marsh land in Italy and one of the latest marshlands in Europe. With its 1800 hectares, the land covers an area that goes from Pistoia to Florence and is the perfect habitat for numerous local fauna including: the royal fern to various types of water lilies, from herons (among which the wonderful squacco herons) that nest in colonies, to cranes and black storks for a total number of more than 200 types of birds. You can embark traditional boats (barchinos) for a tour of the Padule channel. These boats were used until a century ago to carry goods from the Arno River to Valdinievole.

Opera on the Massaciuccoli Lake

Festival Puccini is based in Torre del Lago Puccini on the shores of Massaciuccoli Lake, in the norther part of Tuscany. Performances take place in a 3,100 seat Open-air Theatre, just a stone’s throw from the Villa Puccini, where the composer lived, worked and is buried. Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago is the only opera festival in the world entirely dedicated to the works of Giacomo Puccini. During summer season you can attend one of the most beautiful opera of the Maestro from the Tosca to the Butterfly and the Boehme.
